Luton Town 0 Spurs 1

Walking to the game today one of us was worried we might lose by a cricket score. Something rivalling the recent Sheffield effort v Newcastle (8). The game turned out to be so far removed from that scenario it is worth its own paragraph below.

For 70 minutes we went toe to toe with a side who lead the Premier League tonight and and at times, we absolutely battered them.

So many missed chances unfair to single anyone out. The Woodrow one I felt was the worst, but for many it was Elijah unfortunately not being able to sort his feet out one yard out.

Ogbene is an incredible signing and an incredible player. For the third game in row he was arguably man of the match. But he was not alone. Tommy Lockyer was immense, Reece Burke a colossus. Mendi came on and didn’t put a foot wrong.

If there was one thing to consider, it is perhaps options off the bench. Against ten men today we were bringing on players we used to bring on as bench options in the Championship. Surely an area to look at in January. One moment of calmness and quality from the bench today could have swung it, particularly when the starting XI had given so much.

This Luton side has embraced the speech of that mad, imbecilic Tory Penny Mordaunt. They are standing up and fighting. And when Kenny Block F Seat a1 stands up, A2 stands up and fights. And when A1 and A2 stand up, B1 and B2 stand up behind them. Often C1 and C2 will also then stand. Sadly the rest of row C won’t stand as they’ve staged an early fire drill.

But make no mistake. This Luton side are fighting.
