Luton Town 1 West Brom 1 – Is It Glass Half Full or Half Empty?

F Block watches on

A point at home to West Brom on a Friday night. What to make of of it? The third encouraging home performance in a row? Or more points dropped as the gap to the top stretches to 17 points.

Two changes for Rob’s men as Mengi and Bell made surprise returns in place of the suspended Alfie and Holmes. There was also a spot for Baptiste on the bench.

In truth the whole game felt low energy, low intensity – certainly compared to Watford just two short weeks ago. For this correspondent, two players consistently put 100% in – that’s Jordan Clark and Carlton Morris. Kraus reaction to being taken off was good to see. Clearly disappointed. A surprising move as for many he was up until then Luton’s best player.

Hashioka looked a threat from right back and hit the post with a header second half. He has got a leap on him. Chong took his goal well and it was his own anticipation that created it, cutting out a loose pass and powering through with great finish.

The fact remains that it is 12 points from 13 games. We’ve not seen anything approaching a run of form, and arguably the only convincing performance has been at home to Watford.

Cardiff next at home on Wednesday. A team in form after a terrible start.
