After nine games finally the real Luton turned up and delivered a performance that was a comprehensive a beating as you could wish to dish out. Made the sweeter by the name and nature of the opposition.
Line-up looked attacking. Hit by some new international break injuries, Holmes joined McGuinness and Burke in the 3 man defence. Alfie and Moses on the flanks. Clark and Krauss in the centre, Chong slightly ahead, with Elijah and fit again Morris back up front.
Instantly you could tell a difference in attitude, preparation, and tactics. Every second ball chased down, Watford not given a moment to breathe.
First goal, corner from Alfie, great connection from Holmes, steered in by Jordan.
Celebrations round the Kenny.
It got better early second half when another corner from Alfie was headed in by a completely unmarked Morris at the far post.
Injuries threatened to disrupt the rhythm and the system but credit to the subs they closed the game out with few alarms. Alfie moved to centre back, returning Hashioka looked solid, and Pelly had a great cameo.
To top the afternoon a superb goal from Jacob Brown. Ball over the top, their defender slipped, Jacob still had a player and keeper to beat. Clinical composure, slipped the ball into the net. Pile-on in the Kenny end.
Be interesting how many fit for Wednesday v Sunderland but that’s another day.
Watford were battered.
Job done.
