Norwich City 4 Luton Town 2 – Same Old Story

Elijah counting goals conceded

Some very good chats have apparently happened. And Town were prepared to go back to basics ahead of this Carrow Road clash. But in the real life parallel universe, the same old defensive frailities presented themselves. And whilst Luton were competitive for 75 minutes this time, unlike the trips to Sheffield, Leeds, and Middlesbrough, weak substitutions and more mistakes killed the contest.

For the first time this season we had Jacob, Elijah and Carlton all starting. Clark and Baptiste in the middle. Hashioka right wing back, Chong left wing back.

The Chong experiment lasted 45 minutes and didn’t go well. He failed to see the ball out, Stacey got round the back of him, and hey presto, goal conceded. Victor Moses came on for the second half. Judging from Rob’s post match comments, we may not see Chong again for a while.

Not a great game for keeper Tomas or Mengi. Second goal conceded saw a flap from the former and an aimless header from the latter.

Goal three Bell completely done for pace by the substitute Hernandez. Square ball across and the dawdling Woodrow who had completely lost his man simply watched the ball stroked home.

An angry Edwards starting laying into the players at full time and when that starts happening you do think we are at the beginning of the end.

A reported £1.5m severance clause inserted in the four year contract signed in the summer could be the main obstacle.
