It was not a good Friday night in Devon. Injuries, missed chances, and some dodgy defending. There does not seem to be any fluency to Luton so far this season and that perhaps is the biggest concern.
Krauss and Nelson came into the side with Walsh and Nakamba surprisingly dropping to the bench. Carlton was ruled out with a muscle problem. Jacob Brown made a long awaited return a sub.
But by the end of the game an improving injury situation had again taken a big reverse. Teden went off injured. His replacement Andersen lasted just over 20 minutes before a hamstring problem. And Chong took a big hit with worrying scenes just on half time.
In fairness to Elijah he is getting in the right situations, but he can’t find the net. A glorious cross from Burke was headed over. Another effort was saved by the keeper when a square ball to Brown would have been buried.
The one highlight was a brilliant goal from Victor. Ball over from Alfie. One touch control from Victor to set himself. Then a swivel and into the corner. Real quality.
Woodrow came on and was ineffective. He had a great chance when the ball was knocked back to him from a corner. But with time he just leant back and booted it thirty foot over the bar.
The real quality came from the Plymouth sub whose trickery and clinical finishing Luton could really have done with.
No time to dwell on this result. Oxford at home on Tuesday.
